I am excited to get the feedback from my hub team to see what impact I have had on my team to influence the change this year. 

Some great tips in these video's about how to support learners with Dyslexia or behaviours l http://www.beatingdyslexia.com/spelling-help.html These Techniques are taking from the video.  Great idea to look at different ways to learn spelling words.  This is something to be thinking of during guided reading sessions. Making pictures out of words to help retain the words. Just highlighting that some words have silent sounds, ad that is just the way they are spelt.     Techniques to improve Memory Techniques. Beating Dyslexia I created this slide to use with my learners to be able to hear the sounds. Before we do our reading we want to just show case that some letters have different sounds and are used in different ways for particular words.  Hopefully learners will start to make connections to these and their reading books.

Was wonderful to share my Inquiry amongst the cluster and get other's perspectives and make so many connections with other teachers. Even meet people who had been following my blog and in the process of arranging a visit to learn from each other.  A real Collaborative Inquiry approach!!

Feedback and feedforward is a way for learners to take ownership and be accountable for their learning.  After a discussion with my TE coach we thought that it is important to take into account John Hattie's research about purposeful feedback and feedforward.  So learners can indicate what learner quality did they use to find the learning progressions.  For example 'I needed to think about where the blends were in my book'. Feedback is a powerful way to affect student achievement (Hattie & Timperley, 2007). Research consistently ranks feedback as among the strongest interventions at teachers' disposal (Kluger & DeNisi, 1996). But feedback is a complex construct with at least three distinct components, which we call  feed up ,  feed back , and  feed forward . 

A great way for the CoL teachers to reflect on our Inquiries and use this to discuss together.  This is the exciting part as Dr Graeme Aitken promotes is the collaboration between teachers sharing their inquiries that is the powerful part of the teaching cycle.  I made connections to other tonight about what other areas of my Inquiry I can work on.

This was a great opportunity for teachers to dig into the Maniakalani Achievement Objectives and see where teacher's Inquiries may align or be able to take away some best practise or effective ways to meet the needs of our diverse learners in our Cluster. Each teacher made a comment on CoL teachers blogs and reflected on their Inquiry.
