Putting it all together
Through school talk we are gathering evidence to show a learner has achieved the progression of Self Monitoring. Our reading strategy bookmarks are helping us to check the text when it doesn't make sense or we are faced with a tricky vowel.
Elkonin Boxes used to help us spell words with the different vowel sounds
This morning in phonics we used our sound boxes, learners are really getting the hang of spelling words that can trip them up when reading. This helps when children are having difficulty hearing the individual sounds (phonemes) in words and writing the corresponding letters to make the words. Reading across the curriculum
Many of the learners who I teach for reading, I also teach for Numeracy. We are making connections in Reading by chunking words out, and reading for meaning in the Maths problems. We are using reading in Maths by using a digital lens. Explain Everything is allowing learners to read and listen to the maths problem. Learners are applying their understanding by solving word problems in Maths.
