What direction am I heading with my Inquiry for 2021
MOE - Enabling Learning
What the data is telling us
The big picture can be explained by looking at our school writing data and where we sit in comparison to our Manaiakalani
- Growing teacher assessment capability so that the assessment part of TLA is woven to inform teacher decision making and design.
- Growing teacher capability in literacy to raise student achievement in our school data. Especially in the area of writing.
Māori Writing Snapshot - This data focuses on 41 Māori learners currently at Stonefields. Overall 60.9% (25/41) of Māori learners are 'Working Within' or 'Working Above' expected levels in Writing.
Pasifika Writing Snapshot - This data focuses on 19 Pasifika learners currently at Stonefields. Overall 73.7% (14/19) of Pasifika learners are 'Working Within' or 'Working Above' expected levels in Writing
My Hunch
That feedback in writing will help to build relationships with our whanāu and learners to cause a greater shift in our writing data. There are inquiries across the CoL to investigate further
The desired change in student learning
To create learners who can articulate what their next steps are in their writing, and be able to share their success and challenges with their families.
For learners to be agentic in knowing their next steps and improving their writing based on feedback and feedforward.
Recently through our learning design we are noticing that our learners are wanting feedback, wanting to know what to do next? wanting for approval from their teachers. Feedback is a part of what we do, my inquiry is look into the quality of feedback and how it can continue to build relationships with whanāu and learner.
Providing feedback with a success criteria scaffold.
