Exciting to be able to share the aspects of my Inquiry of how I am making shift in Inquiry.

Collecting teacher voice from the Junior teachers to make this work. Great to have so many that are keen to support with the running of it. This time around I am thinking of modifying it so that it suits the needs of our parents and is tailer to suit the needs of our learners.

I am really impressed with your teaching- learning strategies. I am mother of ****** and she recently started the school from this second term onward. When she arrived from India two months back, she could only read few words. But during the past one month, I have observed that she has improved her reading skills and all credit goes to you and other teachers in HUB 10. Marzola 2014: Barriers of Reading, comprehension. Word identification, limited vocabulary, prior knowledge, word attack skills, comprehension strategies, thinking skills, lack of stamina and memory, lack of confidence and sense making is what I take from this.  My Inquiry looks into how to best cause shift in learning to reduce these barriers.

At Changing Space conference I used Roadblocks and Roadworks to talk about barriers in learning to read and strategies of how we can reduce these barriers.

Using 'A Moving Child is a Learning Child' I looked through what some of the barriers in reading are taking into account the whole child and how they learn.  Using a road block and road works analogy I have summarised what the barriers are that can act as a barrier to help a child learn to read.  I also shared this information at the Core Education Changing Spaces Conference. 

From looking at a holistic view I created an analogy of barriers in reading as the roadvblocks or speed bumps.  The road works are the strategies we are using to reduce these road blocks.
